BATON ROUGE – E.
J. Ourso College of Business students Marlen Breve, finance major from Baton
Rouge; Rachel LeMaire, finance major from New Iberia, La.; and Megan Manno,
accounting major from Houma, La; represented the college at TD Ameritrade
Institutional’s National LINC 2017 conference in San Diego.
The event is the firm’s annual investment advisor
conference, which hosts 50 financial planning students from 25 colleges and
universities, as well as more than 3,200 financial advisors and other financial
services industry professionals. While at the conference, the trio were able to
connect with industry experts from across the nation and explore job opportunities.
At this year’s conference, students attended keynote
sessions by David Cameron, former prime minister of the United Kingdom; Salim
Ismail, chair and co-founder of ExO Works; Lisa Bodell, chief executive officer
of futurethink; Keren Elzari former hacker turned cybersecurity expert; and Tim
Hockey, president and CEO of TD Ameritrade. They also participated in breakout
sessions and panel discussions and attended networking events with advisors and
leaders of TD Ameritrade, including Tom Nally, president of TD Ameritrade
To date, TD Ameritrade Institutional has engaged with more
than 200 students through its “NextGen” efforts.
