The Spring 2017 Mid-West Macroeconomics Meeting will be hosted by the Louisiana State University, Department of Economics from Friday, May 19 to Sunday, May 21, 2017.

Registration fees are $125 for faculty and $85 for graduate students. This includes the reception on Friday (May 19th),
conference reception and dinner (May 20th), lunch on Saturday (May

Conference events will take place at the Business Education Complex (BEC) of
the E. J. Ourso College of Business.
Please choose among the following three options.
1. The main conference hotel is the Cook Hotel and Conference Center on campus with negotiated rates at $119 plus tax for standard king and double rooms, and $129 for suites. The rate includes a continental breakfast. The hotel is 1.1 miles from the BEC. When making the reservation, please
mention the group code, Midwest Conference.
2. A block of rooms is also available at Staybridge Suites which is actually closer to the BEC. The reservation rate is $129 plus tax and includes a buffet breakfast. Staybridge Suites also has a small center adjacent to it with coffee shops and a few restaurants. The hotel is 0.7 miles from the BEC.When making the reservation, please
let the clerk know that the group name is Midwest Macroeconomics or mention the
group code, MEC.
Both hotels offer free overnight parking. We will also provide a free shuttle
service between the two hotels and the conference venue during selected times.
3. For graduate students, we have
also created a less expensive option of residing in on-campus housing.
Rooms have been reserved at LSU's East Campus Apartments. Each apartment
has four individually locking rooms and two bathrooms. Reservations for two
nights (Friday and Saturday) will require an advance payment of $128 along with
the registration fee. This covers both nights and all taxes.

Getting to LSU:
The Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport is approximately 11 miles from campus. The airport has frequent connections to major hubs in South - Atlanta (Delta), Charlotte and Dallas (American), Houston (United). Cabs are easily available at the airport.
The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is approximately 73 miles from campus. The airport has more than 50 non-stop conncetions including London and Frankfurt (from May 2017). LSU is an easy 60-75 minute drive on Interstate I-10 from the airport. If you are comfortable renting a car and driving, this might be an easier option.

Visitors may prefer to use Lyft, Uber or Yellow Cab Baton Rouge to get around the city.
Parking: Parking anywhere on campus is free on Saturdays and Sundays. On Fridays, visitors will need to park at the Visitors Center.
The closest dining areas are
(a) The North Gate of Campus (http://northgatesoflsu.com/ ). This is the closest option to the Cook Hotel and Conference Center. In particular, The Chimes is a local favorite amoung faculty and students for beer and Cajun fare.
(b) South Gate Village: A retail center next to Staybridge Suites. A prime attraction is Walk-On’s - voted the No.1 College Sports Bar in America!
(c) A stretch on Perkins Road (2824-3753 Perkins Rd.) which is a little further away but offers more varied options including some fine dining restaurants serving Creole cuisine such as Galatoire’s Bistro and Juban’s, a few serving local Cajun cuisine such as Parrain's and Acme Oyster House, and more contemporary options such as Magpie Café (serving organic food and coffee), The Overpass Merchants, etc.
