Accounting Internships

Beginning summer 2011, accounting majors are allowed to earn internship course credit at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Therefore, accounting majors can participate in the Internal Audit program internships or another type of undergraduate internship and also participate in the spring graduate level internship option.
The “Internship Packet” link below contains information on the entire internship process from eligibility to evaluation.

The LSU Department of Accounting’s internship program offers students the opportunity to receive course credit for internships. Each semester, students apply academic knowledge to real-world situations through positions with local, regional, and national employers. These internships allow students to gain on-the-job experience in the field of accounting and many result in full-time employment. Other benefits of accounting internships include:
  • Opportunities for travel
  • Excellent pay
  • Networking with students from universities across the country
  • Relationships with potential employers
  • Three hours of course credit
The program is available in the fall, spring, and summer semesters to students who have been accounting majors for at least one complete semester prior to the internship.
Since 2001, over 475 students have passed through the accounting internship program. Some of the employers of LSU accounting interns have been:
  • Cecil J. Cavanaugh, CPA
  • City of Baton Rouge, Parish of East Baton Rouge
  • Deloitte
  • Ernst & Young
  • Hannis T. Bourgeois LLP
  • KPMG
  • Louisiana State University
  • Postlethwaite & Netterville
  • PricewaterhouseCoopers
  • State of Louisiana
