JD / MPA


The JD/MPA is designed for students who intend to earn both a Juris Doctor and a Master's of Public Administration concurrently. The degree is offered through the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center and the E. J. Ourso College of Business. Applicants admitted into the program spend the first consecutive fall and spring semesters as a full-time student in the Law Center. 
 

 
Admissions Requirements

 
Admissions requirements for the joint JD/MPA program encompass those of both the LSU Law Center and the MPA program, as outlined by LSU Graduate School Catalog.  Additionally, students must achieve suffienct scores on both the LSAT and the GRE.
 
 
Degree Requirements

During the first year of study, students will spend the fall and spring semesters as full-time students in the Law Center.  After the first year of study in the Law Center, joint degree students will schedule law and MPA courses simultaneously until all of the requirements are met.  Satisfactory completion of the requirements should take three and one half years of full-time study (including summers).  Upon completion, students will be awarded both MPA and JD degrees.
