The LSUCIA program is a continuous improvement model seeking new ways to deliver academic instruction and bring real-world best practices to its students. Future instruction will consist of activity-based learning designed to prepare auditors that can add value, facilitate change, assess risk, and improve risk management and business processes.
General Description
In 1985 the IIA designated LSU as the pilot school to develop Internal Audit Education.
The LSU Center for Internal Auditing has been the international leader in internal audit education since its inception in 1985.
Eleven LSUCIA courses are offered each year.
Several departments within the college offer a concentration in Internal Auditing, include ISDS, Finance, Marketing, Accounting, MBA, as well as Environmental Management.
LSUCIA enrollment grew to 150 in 2012 with increase emphasis on international diversity and non-business students.
To date, more than 2,000 students have been placed in internships, 107 of whom were placed during the 2011-2012 academic year.
More than 80 practitioners visited class during the last year to provide instructional support and guidance on real-world issues.
Students in the LSUCIA have recieved the "Student CIA Highest Achievement Award" sixteen times in the last eighteen years for the highest score on the international CIA Exam.
